COVID-Cinema 2020 - Caught in Time

Arriving in Australia mid December, it's my second Chinese film for 2020. So this is basically Money Heist but in Mainland China, also it's an express film.

Wasting no time getting to the action and a swift conclusion the film only hangs around for little over 90 minutes.

The cast is solid, Michelle Wai, Daniel Wu, Qianyuan Wang, Jessie Li, Chaobei Wang, Wu is handsome even with a total random mullet.

Directed by Ho Leung Lau, the action sequences are awesome. Hand grenades, machine guns and cars being destroyed regularly, this ticks a lot of action boxes.

The basic plot is Detective Zhong Cheng following Eagle (Wu) who leads criminal gang led by Zhang Sun.

Highly methodical and disciplined, the gang manages to avoid capture after each heist. A decade later, the need to stop Eagle is more urgent than ever when Zhong Cheng realizes that his time is almost up.

If you want to escape Christmas, COVID news or just kick back with a good old fashioned action film, this one might be for you. Wonder Woman is almost here but for now, Caught in Time is a decent cinema release in the year we will never forget.

3 Stars.
