November/December TV Finales - Filthy Rich (Season One)

I don't mind a one and done series from time to time, right now FOX has two (or now one) on their hands. Filthy Rich has just concluded and neXt will finish in coming weeks, so look out for a November/December TV Finales post real soon.

Filthy Rich is based on the New Zealand series of the same name seeing Sex & the City star, Kim Cattrall as Margaret Monreaux in the lead role.

The Monreaux family are dodgy AF, think Hillsong but based in the US south. The show was originally meant to air over Spring in the US, however it was pushed back to premiere late September 21.

The shows cancellation was swift. I think 3 or 4 episodes had aired. Boom it was gone. For the final episode (if you are there you) checkout out this comprehensive wrap up (including spoilers) here.

The show is described as a "Gothic family drama in which wealth, power and religion collide—with outrageously soapy results", the series centers on a mega-rich Southern family who made their money with a Christian television network. The sudden passing of the network's founder in a plane crash brings out three more family members (his illegitimate children who were written into his will due to him having affairs with different women), all of whom want to inherit the empire for their own reasons

It's high camp, easy viewing. The usual show you would see in the US summer. However with TV budgets here (Australia) and abroad being slashed, shows need to be an automatic hit.

Even Netflix is reversing multiple shows renewals to save cash. Also producing TV with COVID safety standards would not be easy. All those HBO/Showtime racy sex scenes?

Filthy Rich will not be everyones cup of tea and I don't even know if rusted on Sex & the City fans will love this series. But there is some eye candy in Benjamin Levy Aguilar as Antonio Rivera. CUTE!

OK, so that is it for a little while for TV finales. However Sunday is a HUGE day for TV. Shameless returns for its 11th and final season, Your Honor also kicks off on Showtime (STAN in Australia) and Power Book II Ghost returns. As an added extra (speaking of racy HBO scenes) Euphoria returns for one of two special extra episodes.

If you live in Sydney you would have not been able to miss Your Honor or Power Book II Ghost is in everyone of our bus stops.

Filthy Rich not sure where/if it will land in Australia, but come on commercial networks, your non ratings schedule already sucks and its week one.
