COVID-Cinema 2020 - Dreamland

Dreamland had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 28, 2019, fast forward to December, 2020 the film gets an Australia cinema release.

Starring Finn Cole, Margot Robbie and Travis Fimmel, Dreamland follows a farm boy helps a seductive fugitive hiding in his small town during the Great Depression.

Looking the the production history of this film, Paramount Pictures had no idea what to do with this film.

In May 2017, Margot Robbie joined the cast of the film, with Miles Joris-Peyrafitte directing from a screenplay by Nicolaas Zwart. Robbie will also serve as a producer on the film, alongside Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Rian Cahill, under their LuckyChap Entertainment and Automatik banners, respectively.[5] In October 2017, Finn Cole, Travis Fimmel, Darby Camp and Kerry Condon joined the cast of the film. Principal photography began in October 2017, in New Mexico.

So 2017, till now. Wow! Margot Robbie is a huge star too, so clearly there was not much confidence in this film after the screening at the Tribeca Film Festival.

However Animal Kingdom's Finn Cole is honestly one of the best looking English gentlemen ever! So while I wait for Animal Kingdom to return for its fifth (most likely final) season this is my one chance to see him live on the big screen.

Dreamland is a nice throwback to Depression, with some nice on the road scenes with Robbie and Finn. It has limited sessions for its first week of releases, so if you are keen get in this week before Wonder Woman finally lands in the cinema.

Dreamland is a fairly good piece of escapism, 3 Stars.
