The Following is FOLLOWING Revenge's footsteps

With the final double episode finale of the Following next week and like Revenge most people will ask why did this go on for so long? The last season (only it's second of the series) felt a little drawn out when someone who should have died, survived a new cult arose and the show just seemed to very quickly run out of steam.

Kevin Bacon held it together as best as he could whilst the body count and the number of stabbings just added up the show just went off the rails.

Next week sees another once great series wrap up and with Revenge and the Following is it time the networks limit the crazy. Revenge and the Following would have made great limited series runs, multiple series just means the madness gets insane.

Take Revenge one entire family was almost wiped out, Emily/Amanda had a new love interest each season (sounds like Sookie on True Blood, just less sexy) and Nolan went from male lover to female lover.

The Following always only had a limited storyline, once Joe Carroll was caught, killed or executed (I will leave it to the people who have already seen the show to know Joe's outcome) where was Ryan (Kevin Bacon) to go? A new serial killer introduced? A new Cult to follow maybe? Not easy for the writers. This would have made a great one season event, now three seasons on, viewers leaving the show in droves and the death count rising next week we can finally put this bad boy to rest...
