That Movie Gay #2016

What happens when you get way too excited about a film, hope for another Bridesmaids or Spy and end up getting THE BOSS? Well disappointment sets in. Well at least it does for the first half of the film and parts of the conclusion.

The Boss is yet another Melissa McCarthy machine, a character from her past amateur theatre days and now a School Holidays hit?

Look comedies in this day and age are always welcome. Comic book to movie films dominate the screens as does sequels, prequels, spin offs and everything in between so I am always going to enjoy original comedies more than one of the above unless it's brilliant.

Now the Boss has many flaws, one Kristen Bell is beautiful, she is made out to be a complete plain Jane, wrong. One major flaw, second is the fact that it feels long due to the almost extremely dull start. Kathy Bates was also under used and I am beginning to wonder whether she even wants to appear on the screen anymore. Her recent performances in American Horror Story have been most underwhelming.

This all said the movie has some extremely great moments (a few you would have seen in the recent Red Band trailers) and moments when you wish the start was better so all in all it was another great comedy to McCarthy's growing list of gems.

The Boss is not great but it's a cut above the Huntsman, Superman V Batman and some of the other sheer crap currently at the cinemas. 3 Stars.
