That Movie Gay #2016

How does one go about making a sequel/prequel to a movie that was a bit shit in the first place? That is the question and the week one (NSW) school holidays teen movie THE HUNTSMAN: WINTER'S WAR faces...

Back in 2012 Snow White & The Huntsman opened to average reviews however at the time was far superior to Mirror, Mirror also released in 2012.

There was a scandal with Kristen Stewart with the first film so she is replaced in a way by Emily Blunt who really doesn't do bad girl very well. Charlize Theron returns but only briefly. Thor I mean Chris Hemsworth returns ahead of the Ghostbusters reboot and Jessica Chastain joins the cast as Hemsworth love interest.

Yes love is a big them in this prequel/sequel whatever the fuck it's meant to be thing.

Aimed squared at the female of the species in the later years of high school for the school holidays but my session (almost full to it's credit, it was a Friday night, not my normal movie going time) was filled with gay men and women around my age (30+).

Ok so my tone sounds negative but special effects wise and costumes this film looks a million bucks, this however does not make up for the film being a bit of a red hot mess. Not as bad as Batman V Superman but still not great.

Look School Holidays is bringing out all the teen favourites with another Divergent film landing next week and Zootopia doing great business for the younger of the holiday makers. This isn't a bad film, but it's not great either. Fairytales like comic book films are a bit overdone lately and maybe it's time to rest poor old Snow White and the characters surrounding her.

The latest Huntsman film despite the young Hemsworth boy being easy on the eye is all looks and no content. I'll pass this on it's wonderful visuals, 2.5 fairytale stars.
