April/May Finales - The Blacklist (Season 7)

The Blacklist's seventh season for me always felt like it would be it's last. However since the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, NBC Friday nights saw a ratings win for the long running James Spader series.

Commencing in 2013 the series is still a favourite for crime/thriller weekly series fans.

Although it's had some peaks and drops, having a shorter 19 episode season (not by choice) did work a little better. The finale however with impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, was forced to shut down production.

The season finale in turn, ended up containing some animated sections to complete the episode, tie up season long loose ends. Whilst not everything was tied up nicely, 10 points for creativity.

The show opens itself to the comic book format anyway. The animations weren't perfect but it was never intended to look this way.

So I will give the creators of the show some credit for this interesting work around.

The show hooked me in last year with the introduction of Liz's real mother Laila Robins as Katarina Rostova. This season had a tight smaller cast which worked well throughout the season.

Laura Sohn as Alina Park joined as a regular this season. Agent Park will be a regular next season along with the rest of the season seven regulars.

No one knows when season eight will premiere, however pre COVID-19 the show was luckily renewed by NBC.

NBC has not yet announced it's 2020-2021 plans for it's regular shows. FOX and The CW went first and boy it's a bit bare on their schedules.

Hopefully for all networks live sport will come back along with filing of their regular shows.

However as New York and LA are complete cluster fucks with COVID-19, lord knows when a large chunk of TV shows which film in these locations will return to work.

Good one Trump you really are a "great" world leader. If the COVID-19 dashboard was an Olympic scoreboard you would be winning big. So are America's "sick of winning yet"? Thank god I live in Australia with health cover for all, less alternative facts and more action.
