April/May Finales - Station 19 (Season 3)

Shonda Rhimes has two shows left on the ABC following the swan song of How to Get Away with Murder.

Sadly for Station 19, How to Get Away with Murder had a cracking farewell airing the same night as their finale. For season three of Station 19 they had already had a number of cracking episodes with big shocks.

Sadly as well for Station 19, this season has seen the show so closely married to it's origin show, Grey's Anatomy. Why this is sad, Grey's never concluded their 16th season. Yes 16 seasons! They were also meant to have a massive 25 episodes this season. In the end only 21 were filmed and finished ready to air. So episode 21 served as a finale of such.

Unfortunately for Station 19 they concluded their filming (unlike the sister show) but some of the storylines completely crossed off and may have left some spoilers for the big sister station.

Like 9-1-1 earlier in the week, this was less than exciting than prior episodes. We lost a number of key cast this season, which was promised from the start.

Alberto Frezza as Ryan Tanner, Miguel Sandoval as Pruitt Herrera (both OG cast members and Rigo Sanchez as Rigo Vasquez all past away this season. Not to mention the way season three closed, I am sure Lachlan Buchanan as Emmett Dixon and father Pat Healy as Fire Chief Albert Dixon will not return for the already renewed fourth season.

Station 19 does stay in it's lane however with it's episode count, sticking to only 16 this season and 17 in it's second season. Unlike the long drawn out Grey's seasons, this allows the show to almost air for four months consecutively with viewers not bombarded with filler episodes and drawn out storylines.

The action has been thick and fast this season with the show not mucking around with turning it's cast around.

It was no surprise ABC renewed this for a fourth season, while I can actually see this on it's Thursday night schedule for a number of years to come. It's an easy watch with eye candy such as Jay Hayden as Travis Montgomery, Okieriete Onaodowan as Dean Miller and Boris Kodjoe as Robert Sullivan.

This was an OK final episode, however with limited cliffhangers with a lot of loose ends tied. I can wait to whenever in 2021 this show returns. That said it is definitely the best series left on US network ABC.
