April/May Finales - Katy Keene (Season 1)

We know need to wait till June to see if this was in fact the last ever episode of Katy Keene or if indeed it will return for a second season. The live ratings are woeful (at best) and unlike Riverdale (well definitely in Australia) the show has no Netflix deal. It is well known series like Dynasty (I reckon Riverdale too) only continue to get renewed due to the interest via the streaming giant. No doubt the amount of money this brings in too.

Katy Keene also has a problem, it is apparently set five years in the future after Riverdale, so when crossovers happen you get mini Riverdale spoilers.

However I don't know how many Riverdale fans have come along for the ride. The series is one of the last (if not last) shows at The CW to get renewed for the 2020-2021 TV season. Problem is they have a stacked line up with only Arrow and The 100 concluding from this TV season. Not to mention the fact they have purchased some series from streaming platforms to cover them for the last quarter of 2020.

Katy Keene was fine. It was at times sweet, a little sexy even for the teen network whilst being a bit more musical than Riverdale.

Lucy Hale is extremely likeable in the lead role, however she is no Archie or Betty. Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy from OG Riverdale is great but also not the most exciting character from Riverdale. Jonny Beauchamp as Jorge / Ginger Lopez and Julia Chan as Pepper Smith also make good additions to supporting roles.

OK so overall this has not been the best new series offered this 2019-2020 TV season. That goes to 9-1-1: Lonestar, which is ironic cause it's also a spin off. Also on The CW alone as a Batman fan I have rather enjoyed Batwoman a little more.

Katy Keene will it be back? If it's not the final episode of season one did tie up a lot of loose ends, we saw the romance side of things with Katy and KO get a resolution while as the episode title suggestions, the cast come together after some season long dramas.
