April/May Finales - Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist (Season 1)

ATT: Get the tissues ready for this end of season event. Yes Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist end it's first season. At present US network NBC has not renewed this series so the finales ratings really matter.

Jane Levy was outstanding as Zoey, as was her supporting cast members, Skylar Astin as love interest/best friend Max, Alex Newell as Mo, Zoey's neighbour and John Clarence Stewart as Simon, who busts out a killer Nick Jonas number in this finale.

Peter Gallagher also stars as Mitch Clarke, Zoey's father whilst Mary Steenburgen as Maggie Clarke, Zoey's mother. Gilmore Girls favourite Lauren Graham as rounds up the main cast as Joan, Zoey's boss.

I gave the show a bit of love early last month when I discovered on Stan in Australia. As part of my
#COVID-19-BINGE-FEST the show is definitely one of the most easy/non offensive family friendly shows.

It's super PG-13 but the musical numbers are fun and this finale really was something.

I would love the show to get renewed, but the ratings haven't been super. Never cracking 4 million viewers (including DVR viewers) the show is definitely not one of NBC's heavy hitters. In comparison long in the tooth The Blacklist airing on US Friday nights is getting consistently over 7 million viewers (since COVID-19) in it's seventh season.

Sunday nights are tough in the US when Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist airs. Maybe on another night and following this powerful episode it could be more of a hit.

If you need a good cry, I dare you not to shed a tear throughout this heartfelt episode.

Give it a go, Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist won't disappoint across it's short and (bitter)sweet 12 episode first (maybe only) season.
