Long Weekend Bloggin' - PART SIX {Sydney One, Melbourne One and album of the year nomination Number Three}

Melbourne beat the Bulldogs, by the same margin as the AFL 10?  WTF, someone would have won a lot of money in the 2012 sports gambling obsession.

Yes the scores, Melbourne (14) V Canterbury-Bankstown (4), Sydney (91) V Hawthorn (81), wow strange or just a fluke???

Okay so well done Melbourne, I have always had a soft spot for them (or a hard spot if your talking Cooper Cronk) and out of the two teams very happy for Melbourne to beat Sydney in a Sydney sport and Sydney to beat Melbourne in a Melbourne sport.

Now to my main love (no it's not Cooper Cronk) music, after my delayed Sunday chart, my Parklife views and now in the 10th month of 2012 it's time for another BIG album of the year nomination.  Yes it's a big one.

It comes after two Australian albums that have really killed it this year, the Hilltop Hoods for "Drinking from the Sun"

Say what you will about Aussie Hip Hop, but the Hilltop Hoods have achieved many great things in 2012:

- 4 great singles, the lead single teaming up with SIA for a double Adelaide love fest.
-  6th studio album and has now been certified platinum (sales in excess of 70,000 units) and reached number one.

Next the lovely Missy Higgins who is selling out shows left, right and centre.

Again say what you want about Missy but she has great stats:

- Massive live show sales and as a witness to this show she is in amazing form!
- 3rd studio album and has now been certified platinum (sales in excess of 70,000 units) and reached number one, all three albums have done so.

She is hard to fault our Missy and now an album has come out that is so perfect it deserves an album of the year nomination, it comes all the way from the UK it is the dreamy XX with "Coexist".

Yes it's a mega basic album cover by the lyrics, the production, the vocals are simply sublime.  Listening to the album "Coexist" you can transport yourself from a busy street to an island holiday destination.

I loved "Islands" from their debut album and this album featured the dreamy "Angels" which instantly broke my heart and showed the XX are simply amazing.  Jamie XX has remixed everyone from Adele to Florence & the Machine and Radiohead.

This album is going to be a musical memory I will cherish from 2012.  So the XX my third album of the year nomination, the album of the year will be published on Boxing Day 2012 (Dec 26).

It's going to be hard to find the winner and with the final three months ahead there could even be more nominations.

Until tomorrow enjoy your Monday off NSW readers.
