@ the Movies - Killer Joe

Killer Joe was an epic play at Belvoir Street a few years back and I really wish Belvoir continued it's B Sharp plays as they really were a lot better than most of their recent upstairs plays.

Anyway the film is great, it's ultra gritty, graphic (deserving every inch of it's R rating) and works really well on the big screen.

It's a shame this film is only @ Newtown Dendy in Sydney cause I think there is an audience for people wanting to watch gritty dramas that aren't so prime and perfect like the increasingly dull House Husbands.

With a great cast and a great look into the desperate lengths us humans will go to when in need of money, Killer Joe really stands up and deserves a bit of attention.

The graphic ending may be a bit much for some but the tension and the lead up to this bloody ending was inevitable.  I had a refreshing time at the cinema with this number, yes it was tense, yes it was hard to watch in parts but I do like a film that challenges it's viewers, Killer Joe rates 4 Texas Stars.
